Anyone wanting to coach EXTRA must meet the following criteria:

o   Have completed the U12 Coach Training (trainings are being offered throughout this spring). Contact the Area 9R EXTRA Coordinator if you don't
have this training yet.

 o    Fill out the coach application (see link above)

o   Provide 2 references (in the coach application) for regional or area board members who can vouch for you as a coach considering your ability to
manage your team, exemplify the 6 AYSO core philosophies, and be organized and responsive as a coach to the board. 

o   Commit to the following expectations:

·       Be trained and pass a background check and keep required certifications current such as SafeSport.

·       Attendance with team at the EXTRA summer camp

·       Coaches will train with their teams over the summer in preparation for the fall season

·       Follow the Coach / Parent / Player Code of Conduct (see link in Resources Tab under Coach Resources)

·       Manage your team at training sessions and games to ensure that the Code of Conduct is followed

·       Prevent referee abuse. Absolutely NO YELLING at the referee and other match officials and board members.

o   In addition:

·       Attendance at tournaments and indoor soccer is expected but not mandatory. Coaches cannot mandate players to participate in these. However,
it is expected that teams will participate in at least one tournament over the summer and at least one session of indoor soccer in the winter.
Coaches should discuss with parents so as to not make these burdensome on the parents.

·       No paid training is allowed (ie costs to players for participation) outside of the training provided by the area. Any free clinics provided by AYSO
or the community are acceptable but again, cannot be mandatory and cannot replace regular team trainings on a regular basis.

·       No alterations to the required uniform is allowed include no placing names on uniforms (ie no printing names on the back of the uniform per
AYSO National Policy).
